100 Punkte 99 Punkte James Suckling Falstaff 98 Punkte Robert Parker Wine Advocate ITALIEN T O S K A N A „GIOVANNI NERI“ DOCG BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO, ROSSO 2019 SANGIOVESE ITO130719 | 15% VOL. | 372,00 €/L | 279,00 € Das ist er also, der neue Brunello des Hauses, eine Hommage an den Gründer des Weinguts, Giovanni Neri, der zum 50-jährigen Jubiläum der ersten Weinberge des Anwesens kreiert wurde. „Giovanni Neri“ stammt von alten Reben, die in den 1970er-Jahren in einem der besten Terroirs von Montalcino gepflanzt wurden. Fünfzig Jahre also nach dem Kauf des ersten Weinbergs widmen Giacomo, Giovanni und Gianlorenzo dem Gründer von Casanova di Neri einen Wein, der als Essenz des Sangioveses schon jetzt Geschichte schreibt, zumal sich der Weinberg nach Ansicht der Familie durch nachgerade „außergewöhnliche Böden“ auszeichnet. Mit dem „Giovanni Neri“ betritt man nun eine Bühne, auf der die Bedeutung der Tradition in Verbindung mit dem ständigen Streben nach Innovation wohl noch nie so „zungenfällig“ und offenkundig zum Ausdruck gekommen ist. So etwa Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): „I am extremely encouraged by this year’s tasting from Casanova di Neri. To my mind, we have witnessed the great »sorpasso« (or overtaking in English) in which a new wine (the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Giovanni Neri) outperformed tried and true favorites like Cerretalto and Tenuta Nuova. This shows the deft talent and winemaking flexibility of Giacomo Neri, his sons and the entire winery team. Congratulations.“ En detail sind das für Casanova di Neris jüngsten Brunello 98 Punkte und eine begeisterte Rezension: „Wow, this wine steals the show. A new addition to the Casanova di Neri portfolio now in its second year, the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Giovanni Neri pays tribute to Giacomo Neri's father and represents a stylistic shift to the most elegant side of Montalcino. The wine reveals a very nuanced bouquet with toasted cherry pit, Luxardo syrup and balsam herb. There is dark slate and stony mineral that dovetail into a very clean and pretty earthiness. The tannins are slightly sweeter compared to other wines from this vintage, and there are fragrant tones of heritage rose and lilac. The ratio between tannin and fruit is excellent, and I can see this wine aging long into the future.“ James Suckling zeigt sich indes völlig überzeugt – „Cherry, flower and cedar aromas follow through to a full body with lots of pure and juicy fruit character. Creamy and savory with a crushed bean and cherry aftertaste. Defining today’s Brunello with purity and perfection of fruit. Making the most of an outstanding vintage.“ – und zückt die Höchstnote: 100 Punkte! Angesichts solcher Wertungen und mit einem Glas dieses Wein in der Hand bleibt uns nur ein „Bravo, bravissimo“! „CERRETALTO“ DOCG BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO, ROSSO 2018 „Cerretalto“ – mehr Brunello? Unmöglich? SANGIOVESE ITO130418 | 14,5% VOL. | 520,00 €/L | 390,00 Für Robert Parkers Italien-Kritikerin Monica Larner gehört er mit 96 Punkten nach den Ikonen-Jahrgängen 2006 (99 Punkte) und 2010 (100 Punkte) sowie 2015 (98+) und 2016 (98) zum Oberhaus in Sachen „Cerretalto“, wobei natürlich allen klar ist, dass dieser Wein ohnehin eine Ausnahmestellung besitzt und seit jeher eine Art „Gipfeldasein“ führt. Dem FALSTAFF ist er (im Rahmen gleich zweier Tastings im Abstand von knapp sieben Monaten) 98 Punkte wert (im „hausinternen“ Vergleich liegt er mit dem „Tenuta Nuova“ von 2018 gleichauf) und JAMES SUCKLING vergibt angesichts dieses fabelhaften Weins – „Black cherries and dried cherries are allied with notes of balsamic, leather and minty earthiness, but it needs time to open up. Full-bodied on the palate with good fruit concentration and refined tannins. Still youthful, with grainy oak touches. Hints of graphite in the polished finish. Very savory.“ – ebenso fabelhafte 97 Punkte! Das letzte Wort gehört Eric Guido, der den 2018er noch nicht bewertet, aber das „klassische“ Cerretalto-Dilemma (sofort trinken, weil die schiere Kraft, traumhafte Struktur und überbordende Mischung aus Frucht und Mineralität so wahnsinnig verführerisch ist) unserer Meinung nach besonders schön auf den Punkt gebracht hat: „As young as this is today, it’s hard to put the glass down, and I can only imagine the depths that will be revealed with five or more years of cellaring.“ Atemberaubend!
